绿巨人18禁尼古拉斯•尼克貝（查理•漢納姆 飾）的父親死後，家中失去經濟支柱。他與母親、妹妹便到了倫敦想要投靠伯父拉爾夫，拉爾夫是個惟利是圖的人，他隻想從尼古拉斯身上得到最多的得意。於是尼古拉斯被送到伯父好友沃克弗德（吉姆•布勞德本特 飾），但所謂的學校裏麵的孩子都遭沃克弗德夫妻虐待。尼古拉斯憤怒之下，教訓了沃克弗德後便帶著最可憐的史邁克(傑米•貝爾 飾)離開了。電影評論：In every life, no matter how full or empty one's purse, there is tragedy.
